Santa Monica Mountains Fund Spring Celebration in Calabasas on Sunday, June 9, 2019

SMM Visitor Center.JPG

The Santa Monica Mountains Fund invites you to join us Sunday, June 9, 2019 from 5-7pm for a celebration of renewal and rebirth in the mountains at the Anthony C. Beilenson Interagency Visitors Center at King Gillette Ranch. November 2018, the Woolsey Fire raged through this area, destroying 88% of the National Park Service land within the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. The fire wiped out miles of trails, wildlife habitat, Western Town at Paramount Ranch, multiple ranger houses, the Rocky Oaks archives building and more. The road to recovery is long and difficult journey, but progress is being made. The glorious green hillsides and wild flowers after the rain offer hope at a difficult time. While there is still much to be done, we would like to celebrate the rebirth of life to the mountains.

There will be small plates, drinks, music and a silent auction.

Before the evening program, we invite you to join a ranger for a guided visit at one of two locations in the mountains: Paramount Ranch or Rancho Sierra Vista/Satwiwa. The guided visit, beginning promptly at 3 pm, will include a short walk and talk, taking in the views and learning the rich history of the sites. Then come along to the celebration, and share your experiences with other guests! directions will be provided after registration.

A donation of $100 ($82.50 tax deductible) will reserve your spot at the event at samofund.org/spring-celebration.
