There’s nothing wrong with enjoying an occasional donut, cupcake or pastry as long as they are consumed in moderation. And moderation for me is a dozen donuts. So on that nutritional note, we’ve compiled a list of local area bakeries and donut shops in Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Westlake Village and Agoura Hills for those of you looking to expanded your baked good horizons.

La Cereza Cafe & Bakery opened at 280 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Thousand Oaks in September 2023, offering fresh baked pastries, bagels, empanadas and other goodies. www.instagram.com/la.cereza.cafe

La Princiere French Bakery, Patisserie and Cafe is now open in the Northstar Plaza in Thousand Oaks, 1321-1345 Thousand Oaks Blvd. La Princiere offers long-fermentation artisanal breads, French baguettes, sourdough and a full French breakfast, lunch and eventually, dinner menu. www.facebook.com/frenchbakerypatisseriecafe.

Le Macaron French Pastries is now open at Janss Marketplace, in the small space to the right of Old Navy, across from The Mighty Axe. Sweet Arlene’s is located in the Westlake Plaza at 960 S. Westlake Blvd., Westlake Village. Baking No More

Cake Monkey Bakery at 2805 Agoura Road in Agoura Hills closed in September 2019, just 13 month after opening in August 2018.

E. T. Donuts in the Oakbrook Plaza in Thousand Oaks closed its doors 3/1/21.

Flatiron Bagel at 1817 Thousand Oaks Blvd, Thousand Oaks in the Oak Leaf Square is officially closed as of April 2021.

The beloved Chocolatine French Cafe at 2955 E. Thousand Oaks Boulevard, Thousand Oaks, served its last croissant on Sunday, August 27, 2023.

Karma Baker opened in the Pavilions Plaza at the southwest corner of Lindero and Kanan in October 2014 and closed its doors on March 30, 2024.

Sprinkles Cupcakes was located at The Promenade at Westlake from October 2013 until it closed its doors in late January 2025. One of my favorite treat places when the kids were little.

According to the National Coffee Association in its Spring 2024 National Coffee Data Trends report, 67% of Americans have had coffee in the past day, compared to 49% in 2004. The greatest increase is among consumers 60+, whose past day consumption increased by 9%. Consumers in the 25 to 59 age groups also saw increases in consumption. 57% of American adults had a specialty coffee in the past week, up 7.5% one year prior.

On that caffeinated note, let’s take a look at what coffee shops we have here in the Conejo Valley, covering Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Westlake Village, Agoura Hills, Oak Park and parts of Calabasas.

Independent Coffee Shops

Longevity Coffee is located in the Skyline Center at 2849 Thousand Oaks Blvd in Thousand Oaks. Five07 Coffee Bar and Eatery is located near Vons in the Oakbrook Plaza at 2036 E Avenida de los Árboles, Thousand Oaks. Five07 offers a wide array of drinks and food items, such as crepes, toasts, baked goods and more.. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available. Live music too. Five07 opened a 2nd location at 2955 Thousand Oaks Boulevard in Thousand Oaks (between Bad Ass Street Tacos and Oak and Iron), on Friday, December 29, 2023. Hours are 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mon-Fri and 7am-2pm Sat/Sun (as of December 2025). This location is geared towards takeout, with limited seating and a standing bar. www.thefive07.com

Ragamuffin Coffee Roasters is located in the CVS/Trader Joe’s strip mall at 111 N. Reino Road (at Borchard) in Newbury Park. Ragamuffin offers espresso/coffee drinks, tea/non-coffee drinks and a selection of food items such as avocado toast, frittatas and baked goods (including gluten-free options). Honey Cup Coffeehouse & Creamery is located at 360 Via Las Brisas in the Dos Vientos section of Newbury Park. Honey Cup serves coffee, tea, and smoothies. Honeycup Coffeehouse is opening another location at Santal Thousand Oaks, 299 Thousand Oaks Boulevard on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 (soft opening).

Honey Cup Coffeehouse & Patisserie opened on Thursday, August 7th at 5755 Las Virgenes Road, Suite B in Calabasas, next to Inner Power Yoga Studio, which is about a mile north of the 101.

Possible Dutch Bros Coffee? On 8/14/25, a proposed project was submitted to the City of Thousand Oaks for a 1,025 sq ft Dutch Bros Coffee drive-thru location in the northwest corner of Hillcrest Drive and Conejo Blvd within the Janss Marketplace parking lot. The application is under review. Stay tuned for updates.

And how could we not forget Starbucks, with nearly 34,000 stores in 80 countries. Starbucks currently has 22 locations in the Conejo Valley, including numerous locations inside supermarkets literally across the parking lot from stand-alone locations.

Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf at The Lakes at Thousand Oaks closed in July 2011.

Boney Mountain Coffee Co. in the Dos Vientos section of Newbury Park closed in August 2013 and became BeanoVino, which subsequently closed in January 2020, then later reopened as Honeycup Coffeehouse & Creamery in August 2021.

Bean Crazy Coffee in Thousand Oaks closed in January 2017.

Green & Bean Coffee in Oak Park closed in early 2017, later reopening as Cafe Sapientia.

Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf at 487 N. Moorpark Road in Thousand Oaks closed in June 2020.

Peet’s Coffee at the North Ranch Mall in Westlake Village closed in October 2020. This short-lived location opened in April 2019 and the location is now occupied by Nick the Greek.

Once again we expect numerous spectacular residential holiday light displays throughout the Conejo Valley and surrounding areas this 2025 Christmas season! We've compiled this list of displays that are synchronized to music and/or are particularly bright, eye catching or noteworthy. This list is growing daily, after we confirm a display is up and running.

CONEJO VALLEY DISPLAYS

Back again for another holiday season, this entertaining residential holiday display at 2768 Baywater Place in Thousand Oaks is simulcast to music on 87.9 FM. Learn more and vote for your favorite songs at www.baywaterlights.com. Bring canned goods to drop off if you can for the Manna Food Bank.

Residential 50,000 light and music display on Via Patricia (cross street Via Ricardo) in the Dos Vientos section of Newbury Park is back up and running this year. Simulcast to music on 89.7 FM. Perennially one of the most entertaining displays around town.

A visually appealing holiday light display at a residence on Flaming Star Avenue and Shenandoah Street in Thousand Oaks (take Lynn Road to Avenida de las Flores and head west) is back again this year for the holiday season. Light, bright and fun!

Fun animated residential display simulcast to music at a home on Mapleleaf Ave (cross street Madrid) in Newbury Park. Music simulcast on 97.7 FM.

Very bright display with large Rudolph, snowman and other features at 982 Golden Crest Avenue in Newbury Park. Neighboring home is also very bright and festively decorated, with giant Rudolph. Bring an unwrapped toy for their Toy Drive and/or make a financial donation to the High Fives Foundation, supporting athletes in recovery,. Once again this year, there's a particularly festive, brightly lit residence on Shetland Place in the North Ranch section of Thousand Oaks. While you’re there, drive Upper Ranch Road and Golf Course Drive for some festive lighting on some beautiful trees.

The Tattersall Team invites the public to its Holiday Light Show every Friday/Saturday/Sunday in December from 5:30-8:30PM at 4903 Pathfinder Avenue, Westlake Village. This fantastic show, which took a breather in 2024, features fun decorations, lights, music and faux snow. Bring non-perishable food and unwrapped gift donations for the local Manna Food Bank. Huge and awesome neighborhood display in the area of Timberdale and Pinedale Roads in Moorpark (just west of Moorpark High School, off of Countrywood Drive). Dozens of homes decorated in bright lights and decorations.

Auburn Lane Community at Summerwood Avenue (at Cochran) in Simi Valley has thousands of Christmas lights strung from house to house over the streets of the entire neighborhood and most every home is decorated.
