Bob Kildee Community Park in Camarillo

Bob Kildee Community Park is located at 1030 Temple Avenue (at Ponderosa) in Camarillo. This 13 acre park has newer play equipment and restrooms, 6 lighted tennis courts, pickleball courts, handball courts, horseshoe pits, soccer fields, picnic shelters and BBQ pits, 3 lighted baseball fields, the Pleasant Valley Skate Park, and Pleasant Valley Aquatic Center. The park is named after the Pleasant Valley Recreation & Park District's first Chairman of the Board from 1962-1966 and again in 1968.

As you can see from the photos below, the play area has some pretty cool and unique equipment!

Gotta Dance Academy in Simi Valley

Camarillo Public Library

The Camarillo Public Library is located at 4101 Las Posas Road. This is a beautiful, nearly 66,000 sq ft state-of-the-art facility that opened in March 2007.

The library is a two-story building with a bookstore, the Giant Steps Cafe in the front courtyard (805.484.0700) adult literacy facility, community room (capacity of 130 to 200), conference room, technology lab and study rooms.

The library's collection is over 270,000 items, including books, DVDs, music CDs, and audio books on CD and MP3. Your library card gives you access to the Camarillo Digital Library with hundreds of eBooks and Audio Books available on the library's website. The eBooks can be read in numerous formats, including computers, iPhones, iPads, Android devices, etc. The library contains the Russell Fischer Business Collection and the Ventura County Genealogical Society collection

The kids section is quite large, with a cool pirate-themed kids area.

The library is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 6pm (as of January 2022).

The Camarillo Library is an independently run city library that is not part of the Ventura County Library System. However, you can use your Camarillo Public Library card to borrow titles from the Moorpark City Library as well as other partner libraries.

Camarillo Art Center

The Camarillo Art Center is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization which promotes interest in a broad range of visual art forms. The CAC maintains an art gallery for local artists and art students to present their work to the public. CAC also develops various programs, sponsors classes and houses an art library to foster art education.

Located at 3150 Ponderosa Drive, Camarillo, the gallery is open for viewing 1-4 pm Saturday and Sunday.

Agoura Hills Library

The Agoura Hills Library first opened on October 27, 2001 in its 17,772 square foot facility at 29901 Ladyface Court. The library is part of the Agoura City Hall Civic Center and well as the County of Los Angeles Public Library System (and thus your library card is can be used at dozens of L.A. County libraries).

The library is located off the Kanan Road exit or Reyes Adobe Road exit from U.S. 101 Freeway on Agoura Road and Ladyface Court. The facility has a copy center, computer center, 2 conference rooms, and a Friends of the Library bookstore & browsing area.

There’s also a household battery recycling site at the library.

Open Gym at Conejo Recreation & Park District Facilities

The Conejo Recreation & Park District has several facilities offering not only paid programs and classes but free access to indoor gymnasium facilities during designated hours.

The Thousand Oaks Community Center offers free "open gym" times throughout the month, with access to indoor basketball, volleyball, badminton and pickleball.  Located at 2525 N. Moorpark Road, Thousand Oaks. For open gym times, visit crpd.org/facilities/1koaks.asp or call 805.381.2793.

The Borchard Community Center at 190 Reino Road, Newbury Park also offers free "open gym" access during designated time frames. Visit www.crpd.org/facilities/borchard-center or call 805.381.2791.

The Dos Vientos Community Center at 4801 Borchard Road, Newbury Park also offers free open gym access during designated time frames. They indicate that open basketball times are for those 16 years and older to play basketball; no team practices are allowed during open gym times. Open badminton is also offered on some nights. The Thousand Oaks Teen Center at 1375 East Janss Road, Thousand Oaks offers free drop-in recreation to any local teen (grades 7 to 12) during daily operational hours, including game room, gym and computer lab. Golf N' Stuff Ventura

For hours of amusement check out Golf N' Stuff off the 101 freeway in eastern Ventura, just 20 miles west of Newbury Park. Golf N' Stuff features two 18-hole miniature golf courses, Indy style race cars (go-karts), bumper boats, bumper cars and laser tag (offered at designated time frames) and a large arcade. You must be 4' 8" tall to drive the go-karts and at least 4' tall to drive the bumper boats/cars, so make sure to wear heels if you're really short.

Each activity is priced separately. Mini golf as of March 2019 costs $11.00. You can also purchase a 2 hour unlimited use wristband on weekends for $30.00 (as of March 2019) and try everything. I highly recommend registering in the Golf N Stuff Email Club as they email periodic 2 for 1 mini golf coupons that come in handy. There are also printable coupons on the Golf N Stuff site at golfnstuff.com/ventura/coupons.html.

Golf N' Stuff is open 365 days per year (366 on leap years)! Yes, it is even open Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day!

There is also a snack bar that serves an assortment of items, like mini pizzas, hot dogs and pretzels. Enough to provide plenty of carbs for your activities.

Exit the 101 off Victoria, head North to Moon Drive, which turns into Walker, and turn left to the park.

South Coast Aquatics

South Coast Water Polo was founded in 1989, providing year-round programs designed to teach water polo skills and fundamentals, as well as sportsmanship and enthusiasm to athletes of the Conejo Valley and surrounding areas.

South Coast Swimming is dedicated to maintaining a positive sports atmosphere with encouraging coaches who create an environment where athletes reach their potential as they learn the fundamentals of stroke technique, improve their speed, and develop long lasting friendships and fitness habits.

Year round water polo and swimming for all ages! Meets and practices at pools throughout the Conejo Valley. They also have a South Coast Masters program.
