2024 Annual Community Holiday Dinner in Thousand Oaks on December 25th

Local community members in need are invited to join Temple Adat Elohim in the congregation’s festively decorated social hall, located at 2420 E. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks, for a delicious hot turkey meal with all the fixings. Guests will also enjoy listening to holiday music. Gifts will be available for children.

The Annual Community Holiday Dinner takes place on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at 2420 E. Hillcrest Dr., Thousand Oaks. Event is free and open to everyone - nonsectarian - all are welcome.

Jingle Bell Jump at Janss Marketplace Thousand Oaks on Friday, November 29, 2024

Santa Claus will jump from the sky for a spectacular parachute landing at Janss Marketplace at noon on Friday, November 29, 2024.

Santa’s targeted landing location is in front of Sharky's, facing Moorpark Road. There is plenty of parking in the parking garage accessible from Hillcrest Drive or Brazil. The best viewing area is around the main fountain, near Buca di Beppo and Sharky's.

The free holiday celebration continues until 3 p.m. with face painters, magic show, kids’ crafts, story time with Mrs. Claus, live seasonal music, and photos with Santa.

"Day of the Horse" Showdeo Event in Thousand Oaks on Saturday, October 26, 2024

Don’t miss this great tradition celebrating the history and culture of our vibrant equestrian community in the Conejo Valley.

Day of the Horse on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 11 am to 2 pm is a free family event open to the public and is full of fun activities aimed to educate and spread knowledge about horses. This open house event is located on our 30-acre Conejo Creek Equestrian Park that is part of the Conejo Recreation & Park District.

Activities will include horse riding demonstrations, barrel racing, dressage, kids activities and more. Several food trucks will be on hand. Very entertaining!

Five07 Turkey Day Dash 5K and Zack Zernik Mile in Thousand Oaks on Thursday, November 28, 2024

Five07 presents the 2024 Turkey Day Dash on Thanksgiving Thursday, November 28, 2024. Register for the 5K road race or the Zack Zernik Mile (run/walk) at Cal Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, 60 West Olsen Road.

Proceeds from the event will benefit local youth - Southeast Ventura County YMCA, Kiwanis Club of Thousand Oaks Foundation and Ventura County Council of Boy Scouts.

The Zack Zernik Mile is named for a Conejo Valley native and lifelong “Dasher” who lost his life in January 2023 at the age of 22. Zachary “Zack” Zernik, a graduate of Thousand Oaks High School, was climbing near Mount Boney outside Newbury Park when he lost his footing and fell. 

New this year: the Zack Zernik Memorial Scholarship, which will be awarded to two high school students. Winners will be announced before the start of the mile. To apply, go to turkeydaydash.org/zack-zernik-scholarship.

Festivities start at 7 am, mile run/walk at 8 am and 5K at 8:30 am.

Westlake High School Instrumental Music Food Truck Festival on Sunday, October 13, 2024

Westlake High School Instrumental Music Boosters presents its annual Food Truck Festival on Sunday, October 13, 2024 from 11am to 4pm at Conejo Creek Park North, adjacent to the Thousand Oaks Library at 1379 E. Janss Road.

2024 Reign of Terror Haunted House in Thousand Oaks September 27 to November 2

Janss Marketplace announces the 2024 dates and ticket sales launch for the 18-night Reign of Terror Haunted House, one of the top ranked immersive haunt attractions in the U.S.  Now entering its 25th annual season, Reign of Terror opens on Friday, September 27th at Janss Marketplace, intersection of Hillcrest Drive and Moorpark Road in Thousand Oaks.

The 2024 Reign of Terror contains 142 individual rooms and 11 terrifying, interconnected attractions in over 32,000 sq ft, of floor space. All attractions have been updated and enhanced for 2024.

Once again, this year will feature a “Lights OUT” special event for one night only, on Saturday, November 2nd. Visitors to “Lights OUT” walk through all 142 rooms in total darkness, lit only by one small glow stick per group. It is highly recommended for visitors to come to Lights OUT as their bonus, end of season extra visit, only after visiting Reign of Terror’s regular production where all lighting and special effects run as usual. This will allow visitors of Lights OUT to truly appreciate and enjoy how different it is.

2024 Sounds of Conejo Marching Band Celebration at Thousand Oaks High School on Saturday, September 23rd

The 16th Annual Sounds of Conejo marching band field show exhibition will feature the performances of the Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley, Oxnard, Ventura, Buena, Oak Park, Moorpark, El Camino Real, Camarillo and Westlake high school marching bands. The event will be held at the Thousand Oaks High School Football Stadium on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 7PM (gates open at 6PM).
 
The event will conclude with a grand finale, combining all high school marching bands playing together on one field, a sight you will not see at any other band show this season.

(Additionally, the Colina Middle School and Los Cerritos Middle School bands will combine to perform the national anthem.)
 
Tickets will be $20 for adults and $10 for student, seniors and military. Pay with cash or credit card at the field box office.

32nd Annual Thousand Oaks Rotary Street Fair on Sunday, October 20, 2024

The 32nd Annual Thousand Oaks Rotary Street Fair will take place on Sunday, October 20, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Moorpark Road between Hillcrest and Wilbur Road in Thousand Oaks, in between Janss Marketplace and Best Buy. Plenty of parking in the adjacent shopping centers and streets.

The Thousand Oaks Rotary Street Fair continues this great event with over 19,000 expected attendees and over 300 vendor booths.

Featuring artisans specializing in hand-made products and a Kids Fun Zone with games, crafts, jumpers, soft drinks and pizza. Live music and entertainment too. Free admission!

Halloween Haunted Trail, Costume Contest and Trick-or-Treat Street in Thousand Oaks on Saturday, October 19, 2024

The Conejo Recreation & Park District will be offering a night full of Halloween fun specifically for young children on Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 6:00-9:00pm at the Thousand Oaks Community Center, located at 2525 N. Moorpark Road.

The annual Haunted Trail is a short Halloween hike appropriate for kids of all ages and packed full of fun. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.  At the end of the trail there will be a hayride that returns “hikers” to the “haunted trailhead.” Tickets are $5 per person (ages 2+) and MUST be purchased in advance at crpd.org.  The “Trail” will be open from 7:15-9:00pm and tickets are sold by 5 minute time slot.  (There will also be a standby line at the event; $5 per person; cash only) EVENT WILL SELL OUT SO BUY TICKETS EARLY!

Those dressed in costume may participate in the costume contest.  Age groups range from two and under through adults.  Great prizes will be awarded for each category!  Contest starts at 6:00pm. Registration is free and takes place onsite 20 minutes prior to contest.

The popular Trick-or-Treat Street features Halloween-themed houses created by local organizations who will be ready to hand out treats from 6-8:30pm. Admission to Trick-or-Treat Street is free.

A free live reptile show will take place after the costume contest at 7:00pm.
