La Katrina Tacos & Beer looks to be a new place coming to the former home of Rubio's Newbury Park at 2751 E. Hillcrest Drive (PetSmart/Boot Barn/Ross plaza). No other information at this time. Rubio's served its last fish taco here on Sunday, January 27, 2019 and it has been vacant ever since. Stay tuned.

Barney's Gourmet Hamburgers at The Commons at Calabasas has closed its doors. It opened in March 2022. The space was previously occupied by Menchies Frozen Yogurt, between Starbucks and soon to be BLVD Steak.
Oxnard Shake Shack Grand Opening on Thursday, March 20th
/The Oxnard Shake Shack will open on Thursday, Mar. 20 at 10:30 a.m. at 711 Town Center Dr Oxnard. The Oxnard Shake Shack location will offer guests both in-Shack dining and Shake Shack’s drive-thru experience. The drive-thru features a digital menu board, a two-lane ordering system, and a separate pick-up window for convenience. The Shack will be open from 10:30 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. Monday – Thursday and 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 a.m. Friday – Sunday. This will be the 52nd location in the state of California.
On opening day, the first wave of guests can expect to receive custom Shake Shack tote bags featuring art from our friend and acclaimed muralist, Eric Junker. As part of Shake Shack’s mission to Stand for Something Good®, the Oxnard Shack will donate $1 for every sandwich sold at the Shack on Mar. 20 to Food Share Ventura County – providing meals to those in need located in Ventura County.

t & g's Italian Beef and Dogs is in soft opening mode at The Village at Dos Vientos, 370 Via Las Brisas in Newbury Park. Italian beef, dogs, salads, pastas, desserts, and more from a Chicago Italian family that has been in business since 1963. Really fun looking family place. No website or social media yet - they’re working on it - but they are in soft opening mode from 10:30am to 9pm.
The previous occupant of this space was Sushi 2 Vientos in November 2023 an closed in the August 2024 time frame. Prior to that, Yama San closed in late 2022.
The Yard Bar & Grill Opened Last Month in Downtown Ventura
/The Yard Bar & Grill opened in late January at 328 E. Main Street in the heart of Downtown Ventura. Yard Bar & Grill is the latest venture of the Cronies Sports Grill team, bringing gourmet burgers, sandwiches, salads, wings and more. Learn more at yardbarandgrill.com. This was previously Stout Burgers, which closed in January 2024.
Chef Burger in Thousand Oaks Recently Closed Its Doors

The former Chef Burger at 1771 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd (at Los Feliz Drive, next to 7 Eleven) is currently available for lease. It is a 650 sq ft location that has been a mainstay of Thousand Oaks since 1966 - nearly 60 years.
Originally it was Tastee Delite, until 1971. Over the years it has operated under a number of names, including Mr. G's (early 1970s), Mary's Coffee Shop (1973), Zorba's Coffee Shop (mid 70s to around 1982), and then Chef Burger for quite a long time (1982 until recently, under multiple owners).

Tiki Taco in Thousand Oaks to Rebrand and Open as Breakers Sports Bar & Grill in March

Tiki Taco, which opened at the Best Buy Plaza in Thousand Oaks on April 14, 2023, didn't quite make it to two years. However, the owners are rebranding at Breakers Sports Bar & Grill, to open in March.
