Cork & Batter Roadhouse recently opened at 1747 Simi Town Center Way in Simi Valley, just east of the Town Center. Cork & Batter serves Texas-style BBQ, with items such as slow-smoked brisket, St. Louis ribs, Philly Cheesesteak Brisket Sliders and more. Makenna Koffee Company is opening a location at the Camarillo Premium Outlets, next to Ubatuba Acai in The Promenade section of the outlets. This is in addition to the other "coming soon" location in Westlake Village in the North Ranch Shopping Center at 3825 E. Thousand Oaks Boulevard in the former Veggie Grill. “Following a comprehensive sale process and auction, GA Group together with the Prepetition Term Loan Agent, has been selected as the winning bidder to acquire substantially all of JOANN’s assets. In connection with this agreement, subject to Bankruptcy Court approval of the transaction, the winning bidders plan to begin winding down the Company's operations and conduct going-out-of-business sales at all store locations.
JOANN leadership, our Board, advisors and legal partners made every possible effort to pursue a more favorable outcome that would keep the company in business. We are committed to working constructively with the winning bidder to ensure an orderly wind-down of operations that minimizes the impact on all our stakeholders. We deeply appreciate our dedicated Team Members, our customers and communities across the nation for their unwavering support for more than 80 years.”
Effectively what this means is, subject to Bankruptcy Court approval on February 26th, ALL JOANN stores will be closing in the coming months. Recently, JOANN announced liquidation sales at 500 of its 800 locations, including local area stores in Oxnard, Simi Valley, and Woodland Hills. The Thousand Oaks store at 1516 N. Jo-Ann stores originated in 1943 when German immigrants Hilda and Berthold Reich and Sigmund and Mathilda Rohrback opened the Cleveland Fabric Shop. After growing to 18 shops in Ohio, the business was renamed Jo-Ann Fabrics, named after the combined names of the couples' daughters, Joan Zimmerman and Jacqueline Ann Rosskamm.
Azuki Tea is coming soon to the Agoura Meadows shopping center (Vons, CVS, Italia Deli) in Agoura Hills, next to the Puffy Smoke Shop. The other Azuki Boba & Tea opened at the North Ranch Mall (Trader Joe's/Ralph's) in September 2021. Azuki means "red bean" in Japanese.
The former La Paz Mexican Restaurant at 4505 Las Virgenes Road in Calabasas is undergoing remodeling and will be reopening in a few months as Hacienda Tapatio Mexican Restaurant and Bar. There’s a sign on one door that indicates a connection with Taqueria El Tapatio #1 (www.eltapatio-1.com) while the other sign indicates you can learn about the grand opening and other events by emailing them at haciendatapatio@gmail.com.

Nothing Bundt Cakes is opening a new location soon at 2390 Las Posas Road in the Camarillo Village Square. Other local area locations in Thousand Oaks and Ventura. The name Bundt was originally trademarked by cookware manufacturer Nordic Ware in the 1950s. The Bundt cake became really popular when a Bundt cake called the "Tunnel of Fudge" took 2nd place at the 1966 Pilllsbury Bake-Off.
