PizzaRev to Open Location at Camarillo Premium Outlets This Fall

Original Post: 5/25/14: PizzaRev "Craft Your Own" Pizza opened its first Ventura County location in Oxnard in August 2013. Recently I noticed a Camarillo PizzaRev location is "coming soon" on the PizzaRev website. I asked PizzaRev when and where and the indicated the new Camarillo PizzaRev will be located at the Camarillo Premium Outlets and is anticipated to open "October-ish." Make your own pizza is the latest big food trend! Locally we've also seen Pieology open in Thousand Oaks in August 2013, MOD "Made on Demand" Pizza coming to Newbury Park in late summer 2014 and Pitfire Pizza coming to Westlake Village at some point soon.

Lamppost Pizza in Moorpark Closed but Jax Pizza Opened Back in July

Having lost the Newbury Park Lamppost Pizza back in December 2011, on occasion we try to stop by the Westlake Village and Moorpark Lamppost Pizzas. But last weekend we discovered the Moorpark location is no longer there, and the space at 530 New Los Angeles Avenue is now occupied by Jax Pizza.

Upon further investigation, Lamppost Pizza Moorpark served its customers for the last time on July 21st, while Jax Pizza opened within a week as evidenced at www.facebook.com/JaxPizzaPlace.

There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at 4:45pm and doors will open at 5:00pm. The first 52 guests will each enjoy a free individual, artisan-style pizza or hand-tossed salad, and the chance to win free pizza for a year. Posted 5/15/14: MOD Pizza is coming to The Village at Newbury Park, 1015 Broadbeck Drive, Suite G, this summer, I'm told in the August time frame.

MOD Pizza serves up individualized artisan-style, thin crust pizzas. Customers can design their own pizzas or select from a menu of MOD favorites. Three sizes of pizzas, all priced the same regardless of toppings. The handcrafted pizzas are then fired in an 800 degree display oven and ready to eat in less than 3 minutes. MOD also offers a selection of salads along with craft draft and bottled beer, wine, pizza knots and milkshakes.

What does MOD stand for? "Made on Demand" come on you knew that :)

This location was previously occupied by Baja Fresh before it closed on January 10, 2012. Pizza is a nice addition to the mix at this location, which includes Ranch Hand BBQ, Daphne's California Greek, The Habit Burger, Subway, Presto Pasta, Jamba Juice, Flame Broiler, Chipotle, Islands, Starbucks and Tutti Frutti.

This will be the first MOD Pizza location in Ventura County. MOD Pizza opened in Valencia and Irvine in the latter part of 2013. A North Hollywood location is also in the works.

MOD Pizza joins other "make your own' pizzerias that recently opened in the area, including Pieology Pizzeria in Thousand Oaks and PizzaRev in Oxnard last summer.

Pizza Hut Opened in Agoura Hills at Former Home of Golden Spoon Last Year

This is not recent news but hey, we need to keep track of this important stuff...the former home of Golden Spoon Agoura Hills at 5891 Kanan Road was re-opened as a Pizza Hut I believe sometime late last year. Steve's un-Original Pizza Opened at MB2 Raceway Newbury Park in January

Steve's un-Original Pizza opened in the MB2 Raceway facility at 1475 Lawrence Drive, Newbury Park back in January. I've heard nothing but great things so far about their thin crust pizza. PizzaRev "Craft Your Own" Pizza Coming Soon to Oxnard

Update: PizzaRev Oxnard closed its doors in December 2016 after a 3 1/2 year run. There are other local area PizzaRev locations in Thousand Oaks (Oaks Mall) and Camarillo (Premium Outlets).

Me and the kids stopped by for a Saturday night pizza pie. I loved the fact that you can put basically unlimited toppings on your made-to-order pizza. I tried a delicious combination of ingredients on my pizza without worrying about added cost. Pictured below are the more basic looking pizzas ordered by my kids.

PizzaSalad Closes and Mulberry Street Pizzeria Opens in Thousand Oaks

PizzaSalad closed early last month after doing business for five years at 1655 E. Thousand Oaks Boulevard in Thousand Oaks. We will miss their organic ingredients and tasty food!

But where one slice of pizza is down to its crust, another one may be in the oven...which is the case here as Beverly Hills based Mulberry Street Pizzeria opened at this location last weekend. This is their 5th location.

According to a recent Mulberry Street Pizzeria press release:

A CVG Facebook follower mentioned the Eggplant Parmesan pizza was a standout...she was absolutely correct. I tried it and yes indeed, it was good.
