Gelato Boutique is now open at the North Ranch Shopping Center (Trader Joe's/Ralph's - northwest corner of Westlake and Thousand Oaks Boulevards) next to the Daiso store in Thousand Oaks. They also have taiyaki, a Japanese waffle-like snack filled with cheese, Nutella or custard. Open 11 am to 7pm.

Mountain Mike's Pizza Now Open in Moorpark

Mountain Mike's Pizza is now open at 754 New Los Angeles Avenue, Suite G2 in Moorpark. Mountain Mike's, which originated in Palo Alto in 1978, rolls its own dough daily and is home of the "legendary, crispy, curly pepperoni." This is Mountain Mike's 2nd Ventura County location - the other one is at 1105 Victoria Avenue in Oxnard. Learn more at mountainmikespizza.com.

Regency Theatres Agoura Hills to Close February 9th to Make Way for New Housing Development

The Regency Theatres in Agoura Hills will be operating until February 9th, as the parcel it is located on 29045 Agoura Road (at Cornell Road) will soon be redeveloped into a mixed-use development consisting of a new 4-story apartment building with 278 units (313,000 sq ft), a parking garage, and 5,258 sq ft of commercial space. The project will include housing for 28 qualifying "very low-income" families and 10 qualifying low-income families.

Exotic Thai will be operating until February 7th and indicates it "will be relocating to the Chili and Lime restaurant at 2705 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd, Thousand Oaks" this month. Sushi Su will be operating until February 10th and also indicates they will temporarily be operating at the Chili and Lime restaurant in Thousand Oaks.

101 North Eatery & Bar at The Shoppes at Westlake Village Has Been Closed Now For Over a Month

101 North Eatery & Bar at The Shoppes at Westlake Village has been closed since the Christmas holiday, with its most recent social media post stating “Happy Holidays from all of us at 101 North Eatery & Bar! We’ll be closed for the holidays.”

The eatery has been closed since then, assumedly permanently. Its Instagram page indicates “closed until further notice” ad its website at www.101northeateryandbar.com is currently showing as “Website Expired.”

It's Yelp pages states “temporarily closes - scheduled to reopen on February 12” but I would not hold my breath on it. Lastly, the eatery remains on The Shoppes’ website, without any indication of the fact that it has been closed over a month. That said, Hibye Coffee, which opened several weeks ago, is shown as “coming soon.”

Paradise Bowls Coming This Fall to The Promenade at Westlake in Thousand Oaks

Paradise Bowls is coming in the fall of 2025 to the spot formerly occupied by Sprinkles Cupcakes Westlake Village. Paradise Bowls offers acai and pitaya blended bowls with other fruits, non-dairy milks or juices, topped with fresh fruits, granola, and other goodies. Prior to Sprinkles, this spot was a Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt, closing in late summer 2014.

Sprinkles Cupcakes at The Promenade at Westlake in Thousand Oaks Has Closed Its Doors

Sprinkles Cupcakes at The Promenade at Westlake has seemingly vaporized overnight. Folks indicate seeing it open this past weekend. Today, there’s no so sign of Sprinkles on the building on The Promenade website and on the Sprinkles website. Sprinkles originally opened at The Promenade on October 30, 2013 in the spot next to Barnes & Noble. In December 2014, it relocated to the larger location and expanded its menu to include ice cream. Before Sprinkles, this spot was occupied by Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt.

There’s a sign out front showing that Paradise Bowls is coming to this spot in the fall of 2025. Taco Bell on Las Virgenes Road at the 101 in Calabasas Has Closed Its Doors

The Taco Bell on Las Virgenes Road at the 101 recently closed its doors after 43 years in business. Taco Bell locations in the Conejo Valley include 1928 E. Avenida De Los Arboles, Thousand Oaks, 25 Rancho Road, Thousand Oaks, 5589 Kanan Road, Agoura Hills, and 791 N. Wendy Drive, Newbury Park. Glen Bell opened his first Taco Bell restaurant in Downey in 1962, serving what his customers called “Tay-Kohs.” Before creating Taco Bell, Bell started Bell’s Drive-In and Taco Tia in the San Bernardino area. Bell passed away in 2010.
