2024 Dallas Cowboys Training Camp in Oxnard July 25 to August 21

2024 Dallas Cowboys Training Camp presented by American Airlines will be open for fans to attend practice sessions in Oxnard from July 25th through August 21st. Fans can attend all practice sessions open to the public, starting with the first workout on Thursday, July 25th until the final open practice on Wednesday, August 21st. Location is the River Ridge Playing Fields next to the Residence Inn at River Ridge at 2501 West Vineyard Avenue, Oxnard.

Training Camp in Oxnard will be highlighted by the annual camp opening ceremony – Cowboys Back Together Weekend presented by American Airlines – as the team welcomes fans back to training camp on Saturday, July 27th. The Cowboys Back Together Weekend event will begin at 9 am PT as fans enjoy live entertainment, appearances by Cowboys Alumni, Dallas Cowboys mascot Rowdy, a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders autograph signing, exclusive merchandise, prizes, giveaways and more! The opening ceremony will take place at 10 am PT which will include a performance by the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and remarks from Owner, President and General Manager Jerry Jones before the open practice session at 10:30 am PT.

On Wednesday, July 31st, the team will host Heroes Appreciation Day presented by USAA to show their gratitude towards military personnel and first responders. The Team will host 200 local active Military members to take part in a VIP experience and watch practice.

Admission is FREE, no tickets needed. There will be autograph opportunities, Dallas Cowboys cheerleader appearances, live weekend entertainment, Cowboys merchandise for sale, food and drinks available for purchase, field access and more.

Driving Directions

Northbound on the 101 freeway from Los Angeles: Exit Oxnard Boulevard. Turn RIGHT. Make your first LEFT onto Town Center Drive. Make a LEFT onto Ventura Road. Travel 1 mile and it will be on your RIGHT before Vineyard Ave. (watch for traffic lines at the entrance to the parking lot).

Parking at River Ridge Playing Field opens at 8 am on weekdays and 7:30 am on weekends and the cost is $10 weekdays for small vehicles (cars/trucks) and $20 for large vehicles. Weekends are $20 for small vehicles and $40 for large vehicles. Cash only.

No bicycles, backpacks (small diaper bag ok), coolers, ice chests, outside food and pets. No strollers in the bleacher area. No tailgating or alcohol allowed.

Historical Note: The Cowboys have been training in Oxnard in the majority of years since 2001 (the years they were elsewhere were 2002-2003, 2007, 2009-2011 and 2020). They also trained at Cal Lutheran in Thousand Oaks from 1963 to 1989.

2024 Summer Beach Buses in Agoura Hills, Thousand Oaks, Moorpark

The City of Agoura Hills Summer Beach Bus is back for 2024. Runs June 17 to August 16 (except July 4) Monday through Friday from three designated locations to/from Zuma Beach. Service is $2 each way. The City of Thousand Oaks is offering Summer Beach Bus Service in 2024 from June 17 to August 10 (except July 4) to Zuma Beach and Ventura Harbor Beach (new this year). Two round trips will be available daily Monday through Friday. to Zuma and Saturday to Ventura Cove Beach. The fare is $4.00 round trip ($1.00 for seniors ages 65+ and persons with disabilities) cash only and is collected in person at the time of boarding. Students from kindergarten through college can ride the Beach Bus for free.

The City of Moorpark is offering round trip bus service to/from Harbor Cove Beach in Ventura this year on Wednesdays through Fridays, June 19 to August 16. $5 round trip for adults/students. $2 for seniors. City of Camarillo Public Library to Reopen on Tuesday, April 27, 2021

The City of Camarillo is pleased to announce the modified reopening of the Camarillo Public Library (4101 Las Posas Road, Camarillo) on Tuesday, April 27, 2021.

The Camarillo Public Library, which has been closed since March 14, 2020, due to the state of emergency arising from the spread of COVID-19, will reopen to the community beginning Tuesday, April 27, 2021. The hours will be Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Curbside service will continue with modified hours, Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., which is consistent with the current peak use of curbside service.

Visitors will be allowed to browse bookstacks and check out physical materials from all areas of the library including the fiction, non-fiction, young adults, and children sections. In addition, each area will have pre-selected book bundles available for quick access and checkout. Books and other physical materials returned or handled by the public will be held in quarantine for 48-hours before being returned to shelves, consistent with state guidelines.

Both visitors and staff will be required to wear masks. Physical distancing protocols will be enforced, and furniture and chairs will be rearranged to ensure proper distancing. The use of plexiglass barriers will be used in areas where person-to-person interaction is likely to occur.

Cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing will be conducted throughout the day. The number of available library computers has been reduced to provide for proper distancing, and a time restriction of one hour per user per day will be imposed. Access to printers, copy machines, and Wi-Fi will be available.

In-person library programming and private events remain unavailable at this time and will be evaluaed and expanded as conditions improve. The literacy program and Russell Fischer Business Collection will continue to be offered as virtual services, and a virtual summer reading program will be added to encourage students in maintaining reading and comprehension skills during their summer break. Mullin Automotive Museum to Reopen to the Public on Friday, April 9th

The Mullin Automotive Museum will reopen to the public on Friday, April 9, 2021, establishing a new schedule of 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday through Sunday. Fans of the museum and new visitors will see Concours “Best of Show” winners such as the 1936 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic, 1938 Hispano-Suiza Dubonnet H6B “Xenia,” and the 1937 Talbot-Lago T150-C-SS Goutte d’Eau; as well as crowd favorites such as the 1994 Bugatti EB 110 Supersport “Le Mans” and the world’s most extensive collection of Bugatti artwork, sculpture, and furniture.

The museum will follow health and safety guidelines set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), State of California, and County of Ventura to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. Staff members, docents, and visitors will have their temperature taken prior to entry and must always wear protective face coverings. No personal items such as purses, bags or backpacks will be allowed in the museum. Additionally, the museum will enforce social distancing guidelines of at least six feet between unrelated groups. The museum will also increase the frequency of routine cleaning and provide hand sanitizer stations throughout the facility.

The Mighty Axe Axe Throwing & Ales Coming to Janss Marketplace in Thousand Oaks This Spring

"The Mighty Axe" is coming this spring to Janss Marketplace in Thousand Oaks, next to Crazy King Kong Sushi. This entertainment venue will feature axe throwing "at wood targets in a safe and lively environment" for adults and children ages 10 and up. They will also offer a variety of craft ales and food delivered from local eateries (presumably from Janss).

Ventura County Library Website Updated to Include Features Available From Home

The Ventura County Library (VCL) website has a new look. Vencolibrary.org now highlights library resources available online including free live homework assistance by instructors and a resources page for Spanish speakers.

“Your Library at Home” features pages targeted to kids, teens, and adults. It is a one-stop-shop for individuals, parents, and teachers looking for librarian curated lists of online resources for distance learning as well as for fun.

The new pages for kids are:

· Kids’ Reading Resources for children's ebooks and audiobooks and chapter book read-alouds by VCL staff. Also listed are free ebook resources available during the COVID-19 school closures for kids from preschool through middle school.

· Virtual Storytime featuring live storytime events and recorded playlists of stories, songs, and rhymes performed by Ventura County librarians.

· Recursos en Español was created with Ventura County’s Spanish speaking community in mind. The page contains resources for Spanish speakers along with detailed instructions on how to translate various library pages from English to Spanish. Each link includes a description of the resource along with detailed access instructions. The resources are divided into three categories:

o Resources for everyone – fun for the entire family through CloudLibrary ebook and audiobook collection and the Spring Reading Challenge.

o Resources for kids and teens – keep children of all ages engaged while staying at home. Features include the new tutoring service, HelpNow, designed to help students with homework, and the California Science Center where bilingual STEAM activities are added daily.

· Teens Reading features CloudLibrary, other digital book resources, and VCL’s Spring Reading Challenge.

· Boredom Busters has fun ideas to keep teens busy.

· Virtual Volunteering offers online volunteering opportunities for youth who need community service credit for school, or for those who want to help the library. There are also fun activities related to art, music, reading, gaming, and more.
