11/11/11 Facts, Figures and Fun - Celebrate!

The day is HERE! 11/11/11! And of course 2 times today, the clock will strike 11:11:11. Time for some celebration on this once-in-a lifetime day!

Veterans Day is 11/11/11

November 11th is also Veterans Day in the United States in support of our military veterans. It is also celebrated as Armistice Day or Remembrance Day in other countries. On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, the Germans signed the Armistice that ended World War I.

11/11/11 in History

On 11/11/11 last century was The Great Blue Norther of 11/11/11 in the midwest. On that day, a number of cities in the midwest set record high temperatures during the day and then record low temperatures that night. For example, in Springfield, Missouri, it reached 80°F during the day and dropped to 13 °F by midnight, a 67°F freak temperature difference. Same thing happened in Kansas City, Oklahoma City and other cities.

The following a little blurb from the November 11, 1911 New York Times. Cute.
